Leafs Announce Team Roster
Category: Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs have sent down Tyler Bozak, Jiri Tlusty, Nikolai Kulemin and Carl Gunnarsson. The following is their 22 man roster, one short of the max, but does not include Phil Kessel or Mike Van Ryn who are listed as non-roster players due to long-term injury.

Looks like Jay Rosehill did enough to prove he belongs at the NHL level, as well as Viktor Stalberg who skated along the top line for Toronto with Matt Stajan and Jason Blake during practice. That is expected to be a stand-out line this season for the Leafs.

Baum Tosses NHL, Balsillie Bids
Category: NHL

After months of court hearings, Arizona Bankruptcy Judge Redfield T. Baum turned down both bids for the Phoenix Coyotes.

Baum ruled "In the final analysis, the court cannot find or conclude that the interests of the NHL can be adequately protected if the Coyotes are moved to Hamilton without first having a final decision regarding the claimed rights of the NHL and the claims of the debtors and (Balsillie)."

In effect, this is a win for the NHL.  They still have a controlling interest in the direction of the club, while Balsillie will be left out in the cold again.

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say the Coyotes are out of Phoenix after the 2009-10 season anyway, but to a location of Bettman's choosing.

Rashad Evans Hints at Nelson Loss?
Category: MMA

Here's a great quote for all of you fans looking to find out who wins tonight before the fight even airs. Rashad Evans speaks out about Nelson, and after episode 2 in which he criticizes him for being "uncoachable", perhaps Nelson still is and loses tonight.

“I was thinking about winning, and that’s why I wanted Roy to beat Kimbo — I thought Roy could knock Kimbo out. It’s not just that Roy can trade punches with Kimbo, but Roy has been in big fights before and he was the only guy who I could be sure wouldn’t get sucked into the mystique of Kimbo Slice. Roy’s biggest problem is he’s always trained by himself, and he doesn’t always seem like he knows how to take coaching. Kimbo can be a very, very good fighter under the right tutelage. Whether he gets that training? That’s on him."

According to several news outlets, Roy Nelson takes a "big flop" tonight. Consider this for what it's worth.
