The Ultimate Fighter 11 - Middleweights
Category: MMA

UFC's 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is set to debut on Spike TV on March 31st of 2010. The upcoming season will feature Middleweight fighters, and Dana White hopes to find a diamond in the rough to become a future contender in the division.

In October of 2009, the UFC did a casting call for Middleweight and Light Heavyweight fighters. Three hundred fighters showed up for the try-outs, including UFC veterans Jason Lambert, Nick Thompson and Logan Clark, as well as Elite XC fighter Wayne Cole, and even TUF Season 1 competitor and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Bobby Southworth.

The coaches for the upcoming season will be Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. Ortiz has named his half of the event Team Punishment, while Liddell went with the traditional Team Liddell.

It has been announced that Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Jake Shields will join the cast of the show as Chuck Liddell's assistant. Scott Epstein also mans up that group, while Rob McCullough is the only announced assistant for Ortiz's side of the affair.

Currently, Jake Shields is awaiting word if he is to defend his title against newly joined Strikeforce challenger Dan Henderson. Until then, he has committed himself to joining the show in aiding potential future Middleweight and Light Heavyweight challengers. Shields is currently ranked in the Top10 Middleweights in the world, and before moving up to 185, he was recognized as a Top 5 Welterweight fighter.

Shields will travel to Las Vegas on Thursday as the show is set to start filming on Friday.
