Cam Ward has yet to leave Columbus Riverside Methodist Hospital since having his leg cut by the skate of Rick Nash during Saturday night's 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. Cam Ward is expected to miss the next 3 to 4 weeks, and will be re-evaluated tomorrow when he returns to Raleigh.
This is the second time a skate has cut Cam Ward. The first occured from the skate of Brad Isbister in March of 2007 in which Cam Ward stated the cut was deep enough to see the muscle, but he didn't actually feel it. It was clear he did this time around, and he slowly made his way off the ice as a blood trail followed.
The Carolina Hurricanes are losing all their elite players. Eric Staal is currently out for 2 to 4 weeks with an upper body injury, Ray Whitney is out, but could return on Wednesday with an upper body injury, and now their number one goaltender.
