Tonight, the Vancouver canucks travel to Los Angeles to take on the Kings. Cory Schneider has been called up, and he'll sit on the bench as Andrew Raycroft gets his first game of the season. Raycroft appeared in 3 Pre-Season games, playing 155 minutes and posting a 2.32 GAA and a 0.934 SV%.
"I've had more than enough time and fortunately I've been in enough games already, and I've been able to get a feel for the pace and the way the game is being played," said Andrew Raycroft when learning of his start tonight.
Both the Canucks and Kings are coming off a loss and looking to get back on the path of the big W. Anze Kopitar poses as a problem the Canucks hold the solve tonight. Kopitar did not register a point in the Kings loss to the Sharks last night, but will look to begin a new scoring streak as they host the Canucks.
Vancouver hopes to draw more penalties and improve on their 3rd overall powerplay at 29.1%. The Canucks are also 6th in the league for shots per game (33.2), and have won 0.667% of their games when being out-shot.
It will be a clash of speed and shooting specialists tonight. If Raycroft can continue his strong pre-season performance in the regular season, this could be a strong game for Vancouver.
